Currency confusion

A week or so ago I rang on the UK Flying Club number to book 2 one way PE reward flights using my cc upgrade from LAX to LHR. I assumed the price I was quoted and paid for fees and charges was in sterling but looking at my cc account it appears that it was in dollars as it was for a lower amount and there was a separate NSTF.

Do Virgin now quote in dollars for their flights or has there been some mix-up?

Airlines normally charge in the currency of the country where the flight originates so as yours was a one-way booking originating in the US it's completely normal to be charged in dollars.

I've asked them to convert to dollars for me when quoted in sterling specifically to avoid a percentage fee for foreign currency transactions. I presume they could do it the other way around.

Anytime I charge GBP to my VS MC they hit me with a fee. Jerks.

Thank you for the explanation.

On the upside there were no cc fees and I paid less than I expected to :D
