Another Hello From LHR Clubhouse

Went trough VA fast track security channel where an American lady was having a really difficult time with one of the staff. He had all her contents tipped out of her bags and was going through it with a fine thoothcomb. She was getting really annoyed and he was showing no sympathy. He took away some expensive looking cream as it was 200ml. He did say she could go back and check it in. I have never experienced VA staff being so curt with anyone before, she must have done something to really upset him.
Any way now in the lounge, fairly quiet at the moment. Usual good service from the staff. Had afternoon tea and a facial so far. Once again flying to Dubai and trying out the new Conrad.

OoH! Marie,

Quite envious of you off again to sunny skies, having looked out here at dank, grey miserable weather and have just turned the heating up. Not envious at all, have a lovely break. Linda :D

Have a great time.
Just one question. Is it VA staff in the security channel of BAA Staff??
I just always assumed they are airport staff and not airline staff.
Are we also back behind the glass door now or still out in the open???

For clarity, security staff are not employed by VS. They work for Heathrow and can work anywhere in T3, not restricted to the VS private channel.

I had a nice chat with an off-duty LHR security officer who was sitting next to me on my last Little Red flight. She told me all the best people (including her of course!) have been cherry picked to work in T2 and no-one likes working in T3 because of the high proportion of non-English speakers and the abuse they get from passengers. From the stories she told me I'm not surprised they can appear somewhat curt at times. But I've always found if you're pleasant to them and make the effort to engage, they're invariably courteous back.

Have a great time.
I agree with gumshoe: stay calm and courteous and it all goes much more smoothly. But more important read the rules before you go especially now as they are ever changing.

Thanks everyone for you good wishes. We were pleasant and polite to the staff in the private security channel and they responded to us in the same way, so I guess the American had been uncooperative in some way, she was flying with Delta.
Now relaxing having afternoon tea in the executive lounge in the Conrad. :) .

LovingGold, we are now back behind the glass door.

Hope you have a wonderful time! :)

I agree, generally being polite is the best way forward and honestly I always feel I have absolutely nothing to gain (and quite a bit to lose!) from being awkward with security staff at airports, so I always smile and try to be accommodating. Most are pleasant, some are not. As it goes in most walks of life, I suppose.
