Why am I seeing Delta flights on Virgin Atlantic website?

I'm based in NYC and I fly to LHR a few times a year. On the VS website booking search tool, is there a way to only see Virgin Atlantic operated flights? I *almost* bought a JFK-LHR flight until I saw one of the segments was on Delta. Ugh!!! To me, there is a big difference in service between Delta and Virgin Atlantic (obviously prefer VS!)

No way to filter them out.

It comes down to the booker reading the search results and not choosing the ones marked as "Operated by Delta Air Lines Inc".

Easiest way is to learn the VS flight numbers!

Just joking but a filter would be nice after the search to exclude the DL flights.

Why are you seeing them?

Because DL own 49% of VS plus they have a joint venture where they share revenue on routes.

So although you prefer flying VS your $$$ goes into one pot and DL will get a cut

This has been appearing for a few months now. When this first happened I did think it could be made more obvious which carrier you would actually be flying. Its the same thing with BA and American Airlines on the BA site...although they do well at distinguishing between operators

Yes, a filter would be useful ... alas that might take VS's IT about five years to engineer !!

Is DL that bad?
I'm planning my 2016 holiday in South Carolina.
The last three years, and we have tickets for next year, we have flown into MCO and driven up.
Now Virgin fly into Atlanta I plan to do that flight which is not only 20000 miles less for a full Upper reward but also saves about 40 miles on the drive.
It was my intention to use Virgin but if there aren't any Upper reward seats on the dates I want then maybe go Delta Business. Is that such a bad idea?

I can't really imagine a filter being put in - I suspect one of the last things you want to do from a business perspective is to set up a joint venture such as this, only to give your customers the ability to ignore it.
Stands to reason that they'd push them just as much as the VS flights.

DL flights numbers ex-JFK indicate the departure terminal (4xxx) or (2xxx), by the way.

Dickydotcom: no not a bad idea at all if it's DL BusinessElite. My experience is that I prefer VS UC for leisure/family/non-solo travel (i.e. fun) and DL BE if I have to work on the flight or sleep (i.e. very comfortable, excellent food and wine, but a bit 'corporate').

DL BusinessElite and VS UC are roughly in the same league. What differences there are in the hard product become less pronounced when you consider that DL BE entitles pax to CH and Revivals access, as well as the same miles (categorized as VS miles on VS/DL codeshare routes, not partner miles) and TP earnings.

I wrote a couple of reports of my various experiences with DL BE, if that helps:
