I have 500,000 airmiles with VS

How would you spend them? I don;t have a ton of interest in luxury holidays. I wish VS still flew to Nairobi or Sydney. Maybe I should blow them all on a partner airline.

I'm not boasting. I honestly don't know how best to spend these ( a combination of work flights and VS credit card for everything!).

You will be very lucky to get reward seats with another airline partner, possibly only Delta.

So depending on where you want to go, your choice may be very limited.

You could always convert them into VH vouchers at the rate of £50 for every 10,000, not terrific but at least you can then choose the time and where you want to go, not relying on availability.

Good luck, Linda y)

I am going to say unless you are really flexible you are going to have a little issue if you are looking at UC.
Not knowing the size of your party this is a guess but I would think PE rewards should be achievable.
Just checked my account and I have a very similar total. Due to having kids of a certain age we have to take vacation when we do so getting reward seats while not impossible is like "Rocking Horse" to the destination everyone is interested in.
If you are flexible then you should have not issues trading them for flights to other destinations VS fly to.
While not the best value you can also exchange them for Hilton points so they could pay for the whole vacation.

Please don't waste time and effort looking for the mythical "partner" rewards, especially airlines, They just don't exist ( as a prompt for the rush of people who wish to correct me)...don't even contemplate companion reward options either... ( not a moan, just a fact)
Use them for upgrading to PE, you will have to pay over the odds for an economy seat but will/ could work out best value. Others will no doubt elaborate on ways/codes to look for.
Save up for a UC upgrade/full reward "Project specific" trip, plug for for a trans Atlantic- others too risky.

Hi

I think you're being a touch harsh on partner airlines. I've used Virgin miles to fly Singapore Airlines (admittedly five years ago), Malaysian, and ANA. I've nearly booked Virgin Australia (I've seen rewards available). But I confess I gave up with Air New Zealand

We've never tried partner airlines but have to say, since starting collecting virgin miles around February this year, we've had no problem at all in spending miles.

So far we've got through 300k including a family ski trip (2 adults and one kid) during half term and a grown ups only into LAS, out of JFK next June. All of these in UC.

For me the key things are being a bit flexible about planning and considering connecting flights in the US. Some places are a lot easier to get back from than others - hence our Vegas/California trip including a few days in New York at the end before flying home. For me, time in New York is never a bad thing but I accept it's not a good solution for everyone.
