V-Flyer

After foolishly stockpiling miles, with the hope to redeem on the NRT route at least 3 times a year, i was left with the dilemma of how to spend them. Someone mentioned Necker Island, and i wasnt convinced that it was a good value use of miles. (12 x upper class to NRT return circa GBP24K. 7 days all inclusive Necker USD28,800) However with the miles burning a hole in my pocket, i have taken the plunge. 1.2 million miles, + 200,000 for two G's to Antigua (GBP1000 in taxes/charges) and off to Necker we will go. Its not until next September but is certainly something to look forward to over winter.

I find looking forward to the holiday and counting down the days is a very enjoyable part of the whole holiday experience. I would certainly be looking forward to that sort of trip and at my age September will come round awfully quickly.

We thought about doing the same, but instead have used the miles for multiple holidays in various places.. a load of January availability just opened up to Hong Kong, so we're going to head out that way, and see more of SE Asia in January.

Anyways, we must remember to get a trip report from you next year!!

Had a look at this deal a while ago and got all misty eyed at the idea. At the time 1.2m miles seemed a completely unattainable sum... The more I've got into this "hobby" though, the more I've realised it could be done.

As others have said, can't wait for the trip report. Maybe I need to look into this more!

I was surprised that i managed to redeem the points for this. The guy i spoke with at the Flying Club said it was the first time in his 2 1/2 years of working there that anyone has asked him for this. Have any other v-flyers tried this before?

Take lots of pics and write a good TR please - Necker is on my aspirational list for years, but I doubt I'll ever build the miles for it.

Fantastic, what a trip. I have earned plenty of miles over the years but have never held on to them for too long as always fancy a trip somewhere, have to say that I always like to have around 200k miles (currently about 300k) in my account to enable an UC trip somewhere if the mood takes me/us.

oH WOW what great idea, like oldboy we have never held on to ours that long. Have 4K at present, now is it worth trying for Necker? perhaps not, take too long now we seem to be traveling BA more than VS
