Sorry for non VS related qu but I don't know who else to ask.

If I book a flight though Expedia will it be a through ticket or do I need to worry about my connections? I'm still looking at fares to MCI and there are some with some fairly tight (in my neurotic worrier's opinion) connections, 1hr 30 ish. If I missed a connection would I be ok or would I be liable?

If you've booked a flight from point A to point B which has connections en route, it will all be on the same ticket. For example, my AMS-LHR-SFO trip was all on the same ticket. In the event of a misconnect it is then the airline's responsibility to re-book you on another flight.
