It pays to be informed

Afternoon,

Another anecdote for you all. If you read my other post about bagging two Gs, this is an extension of that. We were slated to go to MCO today but unfortunately my OH came down with something and had to go to A&E last evening.

So a call to virgin was placed to modify the dates. After the typical "let me phone up the two people in the fares department," he came back to tell me the change fee was $300 pp.

Me: How? This ticket was issued from the UK so shouldn't the change fee be £100?

FC: Apologies sir, you are correct, £100 pp to change.

Me: /facepalm

Not only that but it took a few calculations and discussions to determine how many miles to credit back as I was changing from MCO to EWR.

Now either this means it pays to be informed or that I've changed too many tickets in my time!

TL:DR - YMMV with FC, so be informed as best you can about the fare rules. Who knows if the charge would have gone through as $300 each, but I sure wasn't taking the chance!

Wow - well done for being informed, I'm sure it was a genuine mistake by VS agent, but still...

Thanks! We've got a diagnosis so at least not all in vain. ShaMe we miss our trip to Orlando -- was for our anniversary. Will make up for it I'm sure.

And glad it only cost £100 instead of $300!
