To Upgrade or not? Seat plus?

Hi,

I am flying to Cape Town on the 17th December on VS603 flight (Direct). Would it be worth booking a Seat Plus seat as there are a couple available on the flight? (for £110 one way) When I phoned Virgin they said they had about 100 seats available in Economy. What would the chances be to potentially upgrade to PE at the airport as there are 10 seats available too.

It does not look a full flight and I dont think it will be booked up as it is in 3 weeks time...

Thanks

Robyn

I would wait and see if you can upgrade at LHR to PE as if its not busy in PE theres a good chance of a good price if you arrive early enough, and if theres space in EC even if you can't upgrade you'll be able to move about to have some space on the flight. IMO its a scam unless its a busy flight

Assume a PE upgrade (if available on the day) will be around £200-£300 per person, each way.

On that basis - what would you do?

I was recently offered seat plus at £75 each way to Miami. Was told there were plenty of spare seats on board so decided not to do it.
On the day the flight was full so it's a bit of a gamble.
As there were just 2 of us travelling thought I had done well to get 61H/K a two seat pairing ,until we got there and found it must be one of the only seats without a window!

On an overnight flight to CPT, I would snag the Seat + fares and then see what the upgrade was at the airport - or even sooner on the website if PE fares became available
