747 or 330 to BGI

We are travelling to BGI on Sunday 11 Jan. booking shows a 330 but I notice that some flights are made on a 747. Is there any logic to which type is used and I realise that a change is possible due to operational reasons but is it likely?
Would I be notified beforehand or not until check in?
Any advice welcome
Mike

You won't get notified of a change in type. Just keep checking 'Manage My Booking'. Some Sunday flights to BGI are on a 747, but these are (generally) scheduled well in advance not the result of short notice aircraft swapping.

Thank you pjh. I will keep checking over the next week. Looks like I will be sampling the 'luxury' of UC on a 330 after all!

Think the 747s are flying Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from LGW at the moment. A330s on other days.

Thank you g-vros. Could explain why we were able to get VH UC seats on a Sunday but not on a Saturday.

Hi Mike,
I cannot confess to being an UC expert. There are experienced UC travellers on here, of which I am not one.
However, I believe the A330 may have more Upper seats than the LGW 747s, which only have 14 in total. From reading this forum, the A330 UC cabin does not seem as popular as that of the 747....or perhaps it could simply be affected by the day of the week you are travelling and which is more popular.
I bow to others' knowledge and experience on this one.

There are only 14 UC seats on the LGW 747 fleet and 30 odd on the A330 so it's a question of availability.
