Here endeth my holiday..

Sat in the JFK CH consuming a rather strong and very large glass of whiskey.

Over the past month and a half I have been fortunate to experince a whole host of flight offerings encompassing everything from First on the emirates a380 to my inaugural on a turbo prop. From PE on the VS Dreamliner to travelling across the U.S. in First on VX. Needless to say, I have had an awesome time.

Alas, as I am ending my jet setting for the moment due to work commitments it seemed fitting to do so on the VS4.

It has been snowy and sunny in NYC for the couple of days I have been here. Whilst damned cold, this city is beautiful caked in snow with the sun shining through the buildings.

The ride from Manhattan to the airport was frought with yellow cabs shifting lanes every few seconds and some heavy construction work on the freeway. None the less I have arrived in plenty of time to enjoy some relaxing in the CH.

I am a tad disappointed that there are no weird tapas for me to write about today although in praise of the menu, the flatbreads section is a nice addition.

Another firster for me in this lounge is a negative comment on the service.... It has only been so/so despite there being practically no one in here! Perhaps it is because a lot of the normal service staff are having a day off and their replacements are not overly attentive. A shame, but I doubt I will let it mire my generally fantastic experiences here.

I sit here, watching the AirTrain zip on by and raise a glass to all vflyers around the globe. Here is to 2015 8D

All good things must come to and end...sounds like a very interesting break.
Hope the service improves at jfk and you have a great flight.
Happy 2015

"A whole host of flight offerings" didn't seem to include anything non-premium ): ):

Glad you enjoyed your trips, and NYC. Have a great flight back.

Ha ha ha. A fair point but I didn't list every flight I have taken .... For example Main Cabin with VX, economy on silk air and tiger air turbo props don't have any premium class - everyone just bounces around in a sardine tin :P

Service has improved dramatically. I've just found an area covered by one of the regulars y) y)

Cheers guys.

A real adventure Joey.....will we be lucky to see some TRs :D ):

It doesn't seem two minutes since we were sat at the bar in the JFK CH last June.....quite a few flights for both of us since then.

Enjoy the 4 and hope its as fantastic as it should be.... ):

I was trying to recall when I was in here and met you Jon... It sure doesn't seem that long ago. Wow, time flies.

TRs? Ha ha ha ha ha ha. This trip on the vs4 brings the number to 15 (at least) I am in arrears. I do make random notes as I go along, but they would read like the rantings of a madman who spends his life living in a cave cutoff from society. I'll no doubt post them all up after I have made a pig fly, cured world hunger and taken some time off by being sectioned under the mental health act :P

Happy travels Joey, maybe you can write us an epic all-in-one TR about your travels over the last few weeks.

Cheers

It sure sounds like Manhattan has been just as glorious as ever over the last couple of days ,I trust the improved service was sustained in the CH and the flight is going well .
Your probably doing a lap of the plane with your green tea as I type !
You certainly have had a fantastic few weeks but I've just spoken to Riley who wouldn't mind his life back so if you could drop it off upon your return he would be much appreciative.
Here's to more travel in 2015

Last February we were in NYC and went to the American natural History Museum. It has started to snow that morning. When we left the museum a few hours later it had snowedd heavily and central park looked truly stunning- a real winter wonderland scene.

Is that a euphemism?

Great line, I shall be stealing it for future use.

Welcome back to us in the real world Joeyc
Just seen you have been introduced to a turbo-prop :)
Was this a short internal US hop?? If so I refer to the as crop dusters when I have to board one with all the rows from 1 all the way to 7!! LOL
While they inspire me with the way they only need what seems like 100 feet of runway to take-off they have also give me the worst approaches and landing I have ever had, thinking one in to LGA had to have been the worst ever.

Cheers LG, nope the turbo prop was a flight from Subang over to Penang in Malaysia. Firefly Airlines

I know what you mean about the short takeoffs and landings but I found the bouncing around quite a fun change of pace. It did seem a nippy way to drive around an airport looking for a free set of disembarkation steps to use :P

The VS4 wasn't bad, I didn't sleep and the crew were always buzzing around making sure I was fed and watered. On that note, if anyone sees the beef wellington on a flight, don't eat it. I had two mouthfuls and sent the whole thing back. It is an actual assault on the tastebuds. To give the crew their dues the FSM did pop along apologising and offering me all kinds of alternatives..I opted for another starter and more bread to soak up the whiskey ii)
