Hello,
I am flying to MCO next year and I'm thinking of using my Flying Club miles to upgrade from Economy to Premium.
There are 4 of us traveling (2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant) - will I need to use points for the infant (16months) who will not have a seat?
I am wondering if I will need 75,000 miles or 100,000 miles?

Hi Rich
Assuming infanct is under 2 at time of travel and therefore will be travelling on your lap - you will need to use some miles to upgrade but no where near the amount you are talking about.
Looking back at my account whilst when we have traveled with our infant - it's been in the region of 10% of the adult requirement both for a straight reward or for an upgrade. Example
Example: Reward
Reward: Virgin Atlantic, LGW-LAS Economy o/w -21250
Reward: Virgin Atlantic, LGW-LAS Economy Inf. o/w -2125
Example: Upgrade:
Reward: Upgrade LHR-SFO Econ to Upper Class Infant o/w -2500 Reward: Upgrade SFO-LHR Econ to Upper Class Infant o/w -2500
This was linked to a 50,000 Adult M to G.
Best think is to call the FC who you work it out for you.

That's great. Really helpful, thank you.
Do children have the same miles requirement as adults? 12,500 per sector?

To be honest I don't know answer to this as we our baby had not hit this age yet. FC would be able to tell you this.

cant help with your original query, but if you want a economy - premium voucher for spending X on your CC, then you can use that to upgrade as well. Might save you some miles.
