V-Flyer

I am looking to book a flight to Miami for 2 people going at end of Oct. I have over 100000 miles and my partner is not far behind. What is the best way to use these to get U/C seats. Do I purchase economy or premium seats and then ask for an upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Most V-Flyers would agree the most cost-effective use of miles is to buy an upgradable economy fare (M class) and use miles to upgrade to a G.

It normally comes in around the £800-900 mark which is a big saving on the normal UC fare. It is, of course, subject to availability of Gs which can be scarce, particularly on the night flights back from the US.

Just call Flying Club, they'll be happy to help you find the best deal.

Definitely call them. I tried messing around with it online and their website was nowhere near in tune with what the agent was able to get.

Took your advise just got off the phone to flying club. All booked, upper class out and premium back due to non availability of seats in U/C but will keep looking. Flying club representative very helpful.

If it were me I would be checking the return leg on a daily basis to see if UC has become available.
Just go into bookings, select One way Miami to Home, select miles and your date. If it shows UC available get straight on the phone to Flying Club.
Depending on how flexible you want to be and how much you want a flatbed on a night flight, you can consider a date change if one comes up very near your return date.

Definitely, check the inbound flights for G availability; if you don't have direct access to EF then ask nicely and, like buses, you will get two v-flyers providing answers within a very short space of time.
