This is a great shame Virgin slowly doing away with all the Eastern routes and just concentrating on the USA. As its all about revenue and business is business. Was having a word with the agent on Sunday while booking our Vegas trip and he agreed its all very sad, with the dropping of Vancouver and Little Red.

Thanks for posting.
Indeed, a great shame that today the network has got that little bit smaller.

Very sad.... I do wonder how much of the blame on the Far East and Australia routes disappearing is down the middle Eastern airlines, with their connections to Africa, and Asia, does anyone else have a chance. The Kangaroo route which was once at least 3-4 BA 747;s and a VS 346 is now just one BA 777, and even Quantas capacity is lower overall i guess...

It is very sad and I think VS struggles and retreat from the east and Africa in recent years has been largely due to the ME3 as well as the dominance of BA. Its hard to compete with such a restricted/competetive market.
Hopefully this will be a short-term change and long-term, once returning to profitability and expansion at one of the London airports VS will fly to these regions again.
Thinking about theres only so much VS can expand in the US...surely at some point they'll have to expand to wider a field
Fingers crossed

What?! No more flights to Japan?! Why?! Who's going to give me all those moves and IFE now?!

;_; Do BA even has IFE?! Or is it the kind with one TV per 8 rows? Also, I'm pretty sure they have like 0 legroom!

I haven't flown this route before but the video does made me quiet sad to see it go. Looks like it was much appreciated and it's such a shame that these changes are starting to take place

Here's the plane which took the last flight:

What a touching video, and yes it's sad the route's going. I flew the route once and was scheduled again for April. The Japanese crew are fabulous both in the air and on the ground, and I think VS has been flying this route for what, 25 years?

Why are they stopping it anyway? Do less people travel to Asia, or do they just want to cater to westaboos?

I really hope they don't axe any more eastern routes. We'll be taking advantage of a couple of them this year, and we're very sad about the demise of the NRT service. We would have made use of the YVR route, too, as it would've been great to be able to to Canada with VS. Shame about LR, too, as in future topping up TP will be very difficult as VS and partners don't offer much in the way of European flights.

Will it ever come back? I swear all the flights I've been on are full.
BTW, BA only has like 4 movies per month according to their website or they only list four. It's hard to tell what they actually have.
Oh and do they have recharges? I've never flown BA before, so I don't know much about them.

BA show a lot more than four movies. The four they give at the top of the entertainment Highlife page are simply recommendations and then further down the page a few more are highlighted. But if you fill in the month and route in the boxes offered you will find 3 to 4 pages of films and then there are boxed sets and TV.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, but it's mostly older movies and ones I'm not interested in. I just want to know if there's anywhere to plug in a laptop, as I'll probably just download everything I want to watch, but don't want to run out of battery.
