19 days and counting till our next holiday and I'm getting very excited...
Just booked our slot at the upperclass wing and phoned purple parking to advise we are using DTCI.
Very simple process from PP they've put a note on our account so the driver is aware. All we need to do is call 30m before we arrive.
It's prob quicker to get out of the car and walk to the terminal than drive back to the wing but I don't care!

Does this happen regularly - don't DTCI need to know the driver's name? We're flying out for the first time in UC from LHR in May (and using PP Meet and Greet) and would like to experience DTCI, but weren't sure if this was possible.

Works and the pre booking aspect has changed recently as discussed here.

DTCI don't need to know the drivers name.
They have an agreement with PP so this happens a lot, we have used it a couple of times before also, without any issue.

What you can't do is drive yourself up to the hallowed portals of the DTCI and have the PP driver meet your there.

The way to do it is:

Book Purple Parking...let them know you want to use DTCI and agree a
time that you will arrive at T3.

Phone PP when you are 30 minutes away to confirm your ETA

The PP captain will meet you in the valet parking lane at T3 (furthest away from departures drop off area) at an agreed time.

Either you or the PP captain then drives up to the hallowed DTCI Upper Class Wing' ....it's usually me that drives my car up there.

Beware the very tight turn as you enter through the security barriers and wait for the green lights to proceed.

Once you have arrive at the Upper Class Wing, the PP Captain will give you a receipt for your car and take it away for parking.

Top Tip: Note the mileage as you arrive and check it when you get back..It shouldn't be more that 10/15 miles (the distance from T3 to the parking areas and return).
A cash tip to the PP captain is optional.

It all sounds long winded but it;s not really...I've just given you a step by step "drive through"

The BEST top Tip: Enjoy the experience! I's a million dollars worth!

Exciting stuff Darren, and I'm definitely with you, it doesn't matter if it's just 20 feet, if you can rock up to DTCI, go for it!

It's all very exciting and much easier than using a taxi the morning of departure from LHR given you need the reg of the car you're using.
As we're on a the VS9, staying at LHR the night before wasn't an option. (Ok, we could have but it would mean a long time in the CH. Whilst not that bad, I just want to be able to walk onto the plane...)
So we're staying at the Celtic manor the night before (8miles from our house) and driving down to LHR from there, being full resort members we get very good deals.

So, let me get this straight. You're moving 8 miles down the road for a night ? Are the 8 intervening miles a challenge during a normal day And, it's a golf club! With due deference and recognition to Honeylamb's Aer John (golf maestro), isn't that a bit, well,Club World? Are you secretly harbouring deck shoes, chinos and stripy socks?

Yep, 8 miles! It's not a challenging 8 miles but being at the Celtic means being right on the M4, great for a road trip to LHR.
But it's much much more than a golf club. Yes we have the 2010 members and 2010 clubhouse, but I see it more as a country club at the rough end of Newport where social climbers like me try and fit in chinos , barbours et all!
In my defence we had a very very good deal for the night due to a number of mishaps we had there over the festive period and they are trying to make up for it and keep us as members!!!

We live less than 10 miles from T5, but have still booked the Sofitel the night before our trip to the Bahamas (via MIA) in March...

Simon has the hipster beard...Unfortunatly!

I use Hotels.com quite a bit, just used one of my free nights, got another in stock, and on my way to my third. It's a decent return on your spend at 10%.
