Hi Everyone

I am going to Sydney and am trying to work out what my options are in terms of redeeming my Flying Club miles now that VA don't fly there. I would like to use my miles for a Business class seat, or Premium Economy.

I know I can redeem my miles on Air New Zealand but the extra time it would take to travel on to Sydney rules that out.

Another option is Singapore Airlines, but it looks like they almost always use their A380s or 777 and the Flying Club terms are that I can't use miles for that aircraft. Does anyone know if they operate aircraft to SYD that I can use my miles for? It also looks like I can't use my miles to buy a revenue ticket from Singapore Airlines and upgrade.

Taking a route via the US is another option but the number of miles required seems far greater.

So basically, can anyone help with what the best way to get from LHR to SYD would be with my miles in a PE or Business cabin? I am not flying until 2016 so hope Singapore Airlines will have rolled out their PE cabin by then, although at the moment it seems you can't use miles for their PE cabin.

Thanks for replying. I don't think Virgin operate the flight to Singapore? I would have to go with Singapore Airlines, which brings the same issue back (SA flying with A380s or 777s where miles can't be used for business class. Let me know if I've missed something!

SA = South Africa?

Do VA still fly AUH-SYD? That might be an option, flying VS to DXB and self connecting between the two airports.

I saw it posted on another forum, how about LHR-LAX with Virgin Atlantic then LAX-SYD with Virgin Australia as they are FC partner ?

FWIW The VA redemptions rates LAX - SYD are terrible . Also ,I've never been able to find any availability on the route whatsoever...( just like I've never found any availability with NZ to AKL/ SYD.. ).
