Duty free passing through Dubai

Hopefully, one of our illustrious members of this forum will be able to answer a couple of questions for me.
1. A few years back, we flew via Zurich and had no trouble taking duty-free alcohol bought at Heathrow through security at Zurich. On the return trip, this was not allowed as we were coming from a non-European country
We are going to South Africa in a couple of months on Emirates (sacrilege, I know but Business Class was only just over a quarter of the VA price) and I am trying to find out if the same rules apply or is the carriage of duty-free liquor a no-no/no-problem through Dubai?

2. The DXB - JNB legs are on a 777-300ER but Emirates fly 3 different versions of this model. Does anyone know which version they use on these flights?

Cheers.

There shold be no problem in DBX as long as the Duty Free remains in a sealed bag, with the receipt.

As to the flight from DXB to JNB; when booking was this a three or two class option?

Thanks NV43.

It is a 3 class version. I saw on one of seat plan sites that row 7 has an off-set window and, as the southbound flight is in daylight, I would like to be able to look out now and again. If the seat is reclined, then this will not be possible. The newer -300ERs do not have this problem, evidently.

Strange that. I am in 7A and the wife in 7B, both directions.

At least, it was still showing that yesterday. I had better check again to make sure. ?|

Just realised - the DXB - JNB leg is actually on the 26th, not the 25th!

We leave LHR on the 25th but only arrive in Dubai in the early hours.

Had me worried for a minutes there! :)

Transitting with booze is no problem if it is in a sealed bag. I transferred through there myself a little while ago and the bag was pulled aside and checked to make sure the seal was still in place, then handed straight back to me. No issues whatsover y)

Thanks Joeyc. Good to know that I won't be arrested and thrown into some deep, dark dungeon :D

Just ensure that you don't eat any poppy seeded bread or muffins, inbound to DXB.
