VS39 ORD

HI all,
I am thinking of booking a reward ticket to ORD from LHR this July.
The website says it will be an Airbus A330-300.
Am I right in thinking that the older A330s have now been retired? Does this mean that this should be an aircraft with new Upper Class and new IFE?
Many thanks

The 330-300s are all new and have touchscreen Ife and upper class dream suite. It's the 340-300s that are being retired

Some may say that the 330 should be retired and keep the 747s on a little longer

Probably not a good idea if your buying fuel for Virgin.

Thanks for all the assistance.
Quick question ... is it worth flying Upper Class during the day?
Clearly you get the service and all that goes with it, but cant really get the use of the flatbed etc. I can use miles to either fly Premium or Upper on the outbound and trying to figure whats best...
Will be flying Business Elite back overnight with Delta fyi...
Thanks

You'll probably get a few opinions here. In general, I think so, yes.
But if I had an overnight and a daytime flight, and I could only pick one on which to travel in UC, I'd pick UC fot the overnight, especially if it's a long flight.
Btw, you can always use the flatbed function in UC, whatever time of travel.

Sitting in the pointy end is always better !
You get a much more comfortable seat - 8 hours is still a long time to sit still.
Better food and drink, better service and you get off the plane earlier and therefore can save a lot of time at Immigration.

I would definitely go Upper both ways if you have the miles. Even without using the bed, you still get a much comfier seat, better food etc. There's also the added bonus of drive through check in and the Heathrow clubhouse if you're not gold.
