Well at long last, I have finally been invited to be looked after by Virgin's PAMS.
Now I wonder what I can expect, not obvious at the moment, time will tell!!

The first rule of UNIQ is you don't talk about UNIQ
The second rule of UNIQ is you don't talk about UNIQ

I'm sorry I genuinely do not understand this?
Let me explain. I'm lifetime gold with VS. If I had wanted to push more business towards VS to get UNIQ status I quite possibly could have done, but what benefit would I have got from UNIQ? I don't know! As a result, because BA publicly state quite clearly the advantages of GGL (and these are discussed in length on FT) I decided to push additional business in that direction!

Sorry, it's a quote from 'Fight Club'. Pertinent to your observation. Those in the Club do not speak of the benefits they receive.

Gosh - but I still don't know who you are...(sarcasm)

It's rather like the John Lewis and Waitrose 'loyalty' schemes isn't it - apart from the free coffee and cake (possibly), the benefits are rather less tangibly defined than with the Tesco clubcard. But that's ok because you'd only be cheapening the brand if you gave too much away :-)

I only got as far as Mortimer's second amendment. I like Trumpington's Variation.

Riiight ... 'cause there's a brand to cheapen here ...
Charitably, I'd say it's unlikely that VS would attract significantly more traffic by creating an official higher status tier, the numbers just aren't there. Better to look after folks who are in the club by their own decision, since they are truly committed and not just chasing status of the week like I tend to do

All the free First/UC flights, cars, chauffeurs, escorts through airports and the rest sound brilliant don't they but wait a minute, do I really want to spend most of my time on long-haul flights to get that recognition?
No thank you, please keep your GGL/UNIQ and the secrecy, I'd hate to have to live the demanding life that goes with it.

You will not get a swanky titanium card or anything like that.
What you will get is a truly exceptional level of service.

Gosh (mock) do you really think people on FT lie about their GGL status?
I am horrified

Best thing is to call one of the PAMs team and ask them to talk you through what they do. You could ask them if they're going to be at LHR or LGW when you've got an upcoming flight and meet up, they're all delightful and incredibly helpful people.

Thanks for that, they rang me yesterday for an initial chat, I forgot to ask if the would be in the clubhouse when I fly next weekend.
I have no idea why there is so much secrecy around UNIQ status, I guess I will find out in time!

We all have a choice I suppose. It is the career route I have chosen so I can earn lots of wedge, have a nice house, great car and get to retirement as quick as possible!
I can fully understand why you would not want to spend your life on a plane like me.

Congratulations and welcome!
Do drop one of those lovely PAMs people a line and they will walk you through everything. As Slinky says, if you are passing through LGW they will even meet you in the CH.
As others have said a truly exceptional service. Enjoy
Jon

So there's a lot of talk about exceptional service on here, any clues what that actually means?

Secret handshake to get into a UNIQ part of the clubhouse?
