Anyone else refusing to fly VA until they fly outside of US?

I want to start a petition or just completely stop flying with VA until they open up flights outside of the US. This is a huge pain, as I fly to the east half of the time with VA and I can't even make up for it by going to Canada. :/ I'm also not flying to LA then getting a Virgin US flight to Japan, because that's just stupid. It would be faster to get 10 connecting flights from here to Japan.

Hello, Blob55,
I'm confused: they do fly outside the US (if you mean Virgin Atlantic, i.e. VS).
And if you mean Virgin America (VX), they do too.
Neither flies to Japan, though.

I'm not exactly sure what you are complaining about.
Is this about Virgin Atlantic or Virgin America?
In any case you can't get a V America flight from LA to Japan because they don't fly there!

Ah, I didn't know neither flew to Japan.
What I mean is I don't want to fly VS or VX until they fly to Japan again.

I think you are in for a very, very long wait then. With the Delta tie-in effectively making Virgin Atlantic "Delta UK", the focus will be on making the two airlines networks complement each other as best they can.
We've already seen how this is working, with Virgin taking on some routes from Delta - to Delta hubs. In return, Virgin has given a flight to Delta on routes where they had multiple daily frequency. This way, each airline expands & Virgin can offer their passengers a lot more destinations in the USA via connections at the Delta hubs.

So Detroit instead of Japan?

Also, some doors never open. Once they close, you either have to move on or just wallow in sadness.
And sometimes new doors take so long to open, that you don't care anymore by the time they do.

They do still have a handful of Eastern routes. We're flying to Shanghai and Hong Kong with them this year (fingers crossed those routes remain in place!) I'm really sad about the loss of the NRT route, but they can't really be blamed for axing it if it wasn't profitable. Depending on costs and availability, when we go to Japan again we'll either fly with ANA (VS partner) or BA. But we also travel a lot to the US, so VS are still a good option for us as they've added some additional routes. You win some, you lose some, I guess! Only you can decide which carrier is most suited to your travel needs.

This thread made me chortle this morning.
I refuse to fly BA until they add a route from Heathrow to Wimbledon to make my life easier.

Hi Blob55, welcome to V-Flyer.
If Virgin doesn't suit your needs, and it would clearly appear that it doesn't, then go elsewhere.
It suits mine and I will continue to be a loyal Virgin customer.
Bye Blob55.

I' sad to see the change of routes, too, including the loss of LR but not going to refuse to fly with VS because of that. I am still happy to fly with them to the places they go to, and would imagine that they couldn't care less if I did fly with a different airline...

I will fly with VS when I can - and they suit my needs 100% at this time...
Now, when I get a little richer and my horizons open and I want to visit places a little 'different' then I wont fly VS - unless of course there is a route change.
I can see you point Blob55 - if you use the NRT route a lot and have saved FC points etc it must be a pain. I was planning on a trip (using FC points to try and swag a G ticket) from the UK to NRT. Now, I cant an I am a little gutted. Alas, I will use the points for another trip another time...
However, calling on a company to reinstate a route that makes no money because you want to use their service is about as David vs Goliath as it can get. Best of luck though mate!

No support from me, enjoy flying with whichever airline you choose to support.

Let's me check the date - nope, it's not 1st April.
Let me see what universe I'm in - nope, doesn't appear to be a parallel one!

Stop being ******* about it guys. I base which movies I watch based on what's on VA flights. Now that I can't fly with them, I have to download movies onto my laptop which only lasts like 3 hours. I don't even know if other airlines have chargers or anything! This is a huge change for me and being ***** about it isn't helping!

I am still very confused.
So, do you also choose which restaurants to eat at based on Virgin's in-flight menu?

Virgin flys to 12 destinations in the US: JFK, Newark, Boston, Washington, Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago (seasonal), Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
They fly to 13 non US destinations: Grenada, Tobago, Barbados, St Lucia, Antiga, Jamaica, Cuba, Cancun, Johannesburg, Lagos, Dubai, Delhi and Hong Kong.

Clarity would help, you keep mentioning Virgin Australia whereas Virgin Atlantic is VS.

To the OP...
I for one cannot understand the point/question.
If you are saying that you are upset that Virgin Atlantic (VS) have stopped your main route (LHR-NRT?), you won't be alone. There was a thread on here not so long ago discussing it and many people also expressed their sadness and worries about being re-booked on to other airlines.
If you are saying the stopping of that route will force you to another airline - that's understood and your choice.
I don't get what else you are saying/asking?
