Heading to the the US in a few weeks, and on my return leg we will be hitting the Virgin lounge at JFK, just wondering what the JFK lounge is like, any tips on whats hot or not in there or at JFK airport?

30 days and counting until we hit New York!!

I really like it. It's small but lighter than the EWR clubhouse as it has windows. Have only been in for early morning flight but would love to try for an evening flight, the bar looked good!

I have a 1h 50m layover in JFK, coming in from ORD at 18:10 and scheduled to depart at 20:01... would this be enough time to connect and at least get a drink in the JFK CH?

The JFK clubhouse is bigger than that at EWR, it has a spa, has windows on both sides and generally is very close to the gates VS uses so allows for late boarding. The bar is fab and it has some nice quieter areas to relax. For a morning flight it's better too because where EWR doesn't have a licence for morning champagne, JFK does y)

When did that change? It wasn't the case 2 years back....

Edited to add...I have just reviewed my TR from 2 years back and see the magic hour was 8am. We were on VS026 which left before then....

It is an excellent lounge; fantastic staff, lots of really decent food choices, a great bar and very convenient for the gates.

The downside is the delay inflicted, on actually arriving at the lounge, by the TSA.

If you really want to enjoy the JFK - LHR experience, factor in an additional 45 minutes to your arrival time at the airport; remember, it's a relatively short flight and eating in the lounge, before head down on the aircraft, makes sense.

I enjoy the Margarita's in the Clubhouse bar before slowly sauntering downstairs after one or four to join the boarding queue!

I love it! Though much smaller than the LHR CH, it has it's own funky, trendy ambiance. They do have showers and a spa, so you can get your spa treatments. I have spent many happy hours there working and sipping Champagne. They have a decent selection of tapas and a la carte items. The wine selection is not impressive (hey what can I say, I am a wine snob ;)) but they have a full bar and they serve Lanson Champagne which definitely suffices. You will definitely enjoy yourself there.

As long as it isn't a morning flight. It's a wonderful experience but for morning flights it's more like a comfortable waiting room where breakfast is served. No spa and shock horror! No alcohol.

Thanks NV43, I will make sure we factor that in
