Hi again

Is seat 19a close to the galley and toilets? According to the seat map on here it looks like there are a couple of things in the middle of the cabin, what are they? Right now I have the whole of the UC cabin to choose from.

Do people ask for the seat to be turned into a bed on day flights and can you still see the TV screen?

On a 14:05pm LHR to JFK flight when is dinner likely to be served? I ask as I am not a massive eater, HOWEVER, I plan to sample food both in CH and UC, so trying to figure out how much time to leave between meals.

Tontybear - back to my previous post regarding "upgrade not possible", the £86 from from home to LHR was quoted from Virgin, so I assume it is their car service. I don't think I will use the service as I may stay overnight at a hotel and arrange my own taxi so I can experience the DTCI.

Also, is there a chance the aircraft could change from the 747-400 to something else? Not flying until December. If so, do they notify you so you can change your pre-selected seat?

If you are looking at a website that lists it as 'config 4' then it is not the VS own seat map page. There are only two configs now - LHR and LGW

There isn't anything in the space between 19A and 19K though that used to be where the on board massage area was. But yes they are close to the galley

You can turn your seat into a bed anytime.

Dinner usually starts about 1 - 1 1/2 hours into the flight.

Yes an aircraft is always subject to change but they don't tell you if this happens.

Thanks for th link Tontybear. It was actually on this site that has the configure 4 option, think it is under the toolbox section. In your opinion is 19a generally avoided by solo travellers because of the galley or is noise from the galley not really an issue on a day time flight?

I think 19A & K are great seats for solo travellers - they feel relatively private as there's only one person next to you instead of someone on either side. Yes they're close to the galley but in my experience not close enough to disturb you, certainly on a day flight, and I didn't find the loo a problem - it's closer to row 20 than 19.

Don't know about JFK but certainly on the longer west coast routes lots of people turn their seats into a bed even on day flights, and you can move the IFE screen to watch it in bed.

As gumshoe says 19A &K are great seats ,nicely tucked away , I've been on the 45 3 times and haven't turned my seat into a bed yet and haven't seen many people do it but if that's what you want to do then do it

Thanks gumshoe and blacky1! Would you keep this seat on a return flight home which departs at 9pm' ish or would you select another seat in the A zone such as 16 or 17 due to the galley?

Sorry for my silly questions but I am just very excited and counting down. Roll on DTCI, Virgin red heads( assume that is a cocktail), stretching out, bubbly, CH and generally getting a head start amongst the rest of the pax on the flight at JFK!!....oh, not to forget a complimentary spa treatment and probably a paid one. The prices at LHR CH at a glance seem quite reasonable.

Keep it! The entrance to the galley is far enough behind you not to be a nuisance. I know Seatguru says it may be bothersome but I honestly didn't find it a problem. It's a nice private seat that feels kind of tucked away.

Not silly questions at all , again as GS says the Galley really isn't an issue , stick with the seat selection ,I love the excitement your feeling ,it makes me want to book a trip !

Many of our regulars who fly as often as some of us catch buses, swear by 19 A/K

Honestly, anywhere in Zone A is awesome. You will enjoy it. You'll be amazed at how much space there is across the "aisle"

19A/18A for me. I tend to find the A side suits my sleeping position better. 19A/K are like cocoons when in bed mode!
