Au And Upper Class Twilight Check In

First of all greetings from the Hilton LGW executive lounge.

We have just returned fom twilight check in. We went to the Upper Class desk although travelling in PE as Mr D is a gold card holder, were we were told that Au's can not use the Upper Class desk for twilight check in. This was news to me, we have used it before when travelling in PE without any issues. After some argument he finally checked us in. I would like some clarificatiion on this, have any other v-flyers encountered this problem.

PS Managed seq 1. first time ever, now feel like a fully fledged v-flyer!

Hi Daffodil,

Six weeks today I hope to be in the Hilton Executive Lounge too - a pleasant way to start any holiday. Hope you have a great flight and congrats on the Seq 1. y)

Sorry can't comment on Twilight check in procedures.

This sounds very fishy to me. Why wouldn't they honour Au benefits, makes no sense. Congrats on Seq1 oo) oo)

Well done on the Seq1 y) y)

Your Twighlight experience points to a consistent factor - a disinterested check in operation n(

Enjoy the Hilton and of course the Clubhouse tomorrow ;)

Typical Swissport.

One of the published benefits of Au is the ability to use UC check-in. I'd bring it up with Crawley Towers, as some retraining sounds in order to me.

Twilight are usually ill-informed, disinterested and jobsworth. Or worse.

That's my opinion, based purely on our last dozen flights.

Enjoy the Hilton.

That's a real pity they were not up to speed on correct procedures at an UC checkin - the right of Au to use UC checkin regardless of travelling class should be very well known.

I had an experience where twilight didn't know Au could take an extra 23kg suitcase for free in any class of travel. However, I could accept that lack of knowledge as it was regular checkin on twilight (no UC checkin operating) and they were open to admit they didn't know and would ask ... took 10 minutes but they came back and agreed it was absolutely fine, apolgised for the delay in finding out and then checking in the extra bag for free.

The most regular disadvantage I find of using twilight checkin when flying PE or UC is that I have found my luggage does not generally get treated priority (even though they put the tags on) so long wait at other end for bags whereas checking on the day it does get treated priority most of the time. Having said all that I do like the facility as some trips it's a real timesaver on the day of travel.

Generally found twilight staff to be friendly and helpful so it's sad to hear other responders to this post have not had a nice experience.

I agree with others that you should let VS know so that the staff get the training - hope the rest of your trip goes really well!

Never done twilight check in so can't comment.

I do, however, wish you a great stay at LGW, a wonderful time in the CH and an even better flight!

Hi Marie,

Sorry to hear about the disappointing check in experience, they should do better as its the first start of the holiday experience. We have decided to not use Twilight check in as we should have plenty of time on the morning and i like to keep my stuff with me.
Enjoy the clubhouse , a week today for us.

Have a lovely holiday, its a hard life isn't . y) Linda

Update. Just checked into the CH and asked them to clarify the situation the answer is Au can use the upper Class desk for twilight check in what ever class of travel. The supervisor was most apologetic, they can find out from their records who checked us in and have a word with him.

We have had a really warm welcome in the CH and the service has been superb. The supervisor as checked everything is OK and reassured us about twilight check in for future bookings she also changed our seats from 22A&C to 18A&C.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Its off to Barbados for two weeks in the sun.

We did UC twilight checking prior to Havana back in November at about 7:30pm - there was a huge queue, and there was 1 counter (with no queue) that stated "Upper Class only" above it - certainly no mention of Gold cards. Fortunately we were in UC...

I guess "twilight" isn't considered "standard" checkin...

That won't make a difference deep_south, Au card holders can always use UC check in.

Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen a sign at check in that Au members can use UC or Ag members can use the PE counters... you do see those kind of signs at the gate though in the priority boarding channels.
