I could'nt see this topic previously, but apologies if it has been covered

Just an FYI. I received an invite to join E-Rewards a while back which basically asks you to complete opinion polls on line - great for when stuck at the airport! The incentive is points which can be converted into a number of things, including FC miles.

I was sceptical, but I've just done a check and have earned about 20k miles overall, with no junk email.

I'm not sure how I was invited to join, but it seems worth it for a little effort in dead time.

It's has been mentioned before e-rewards are very good. You must be doing a lot of surveys I only manage a couple of thousand points every couple of months.

I'm in the airport a lot. And easily distracted from work!

Time period was about 18 months.

Recently I've only been getting about one survey a week despite raising my preferences to 7-10 a week ( or something similar) and even though I respond immediately I rarely get beyond the initial few questions as, "the number of responses reached have reached the target number" or some such. I am beginning to think they are not interested in the opinions of the retired generation !

I've not been asked about this, but I too often feel in other areas that once you've "retired", you become invisible and somehow less interesting!

Rightly or wrongly, and with the exception of products & services specifically targeted at them, marketiers and ad agencies just aren't interested in the over 50s. That's why, for example, 90% of commercial radio stations are aimed at 20- and 30-somethings.

Why, you might ask, why many retired people have plenty of cash, few debts and lots of time to spend their money? Because they're perceived to be unreceptive to advertising. They know what they want and are less willing to discover new products/holiday destinations etc. A massive generalisation maybe, but advertising is based on generalisations.

Exactly the same. Even though I know they won't let me do a whole survey I still start it and usually get 25 points for participating. I can't remember when they last gave me any miles but every little helps.

I'm getting about 1000 miles per month from eRewards at present despite being (ahem) over 50 (just).

I think I failed to qualify for the demographic group for 90% of them they sent me.

Then I managed to do a few and got some paltry amount of miles, and binned it...

I have been doing surveys with e-rewards for a good few years now. I receive about 3-4 invites every week. Some surveys I do get to the end and a lot don't. Over the years I must have received a good several thousands of miles.

I've been doing these surveys for years. Some I qualify for & some I don't but, as others have said, I get a few points until I no longer meet the criteria for a particular survey.

I have earned thousands of points over the years & transfer them into FC miles, or Hilton Points of IHG Points, depending on which account I want to top up at the time. Do be aware that e-rewards have an expiry date, so make sure you don't loose them.

as a fellow e-rewards participator I too thought my inability to get past question 3 (Gender - Age - Location) was due to my large collection of years (61) but I am also wondering if it due to my location - Wales! maybe market researchers believe we haven't got access to most of the facilities they are asking about - like Gas, Electricity, Banks, Cars, Mobile Phones, Education, Lidl - I could go on.
I have just converted points for 2,000 FC miles - but that has taken over 12 months and I am sure I have been kicked out of three times more surveys than I have completed.

What an honest lot we are....

Not done any for a while - need to be in the mood to do them though.

Some of the surveys fail well into them because they are badly designed.

I've complained to them a few times where I've been kicked out of them after answering a good number of detailed questions about the products / issue because I don't qualify - There is 'screening' and there is 'screening'.

The sometimes credit the points when that happens.

I remember one about shopping and there were loads of options about why I'd bought the item (frozen chips) the answer I wanted to give was 'because I fancied chips' but was that one of the options ? No it wasn't!

And I never qualify for interesting surveys about travel, airports, airlines. It is always what percentage do you spend at X Y Z Shop a day, a week, a month, a year , a lifetime .....

I've never had the FC option. Southwest and a bunch of others that'll I'll never use. GF has it. When I called they said I've got what I've got and that's that. Were I to have FC as an option, I'd be able to convert for about 20K miles

It depends on which organisation 'sponsors' you to e-rewards as to where you can transfer the points too.

It also depends on your country as well.

The only airline I can post to is VS.

Last year I wanted to transfer some points to UA to keep my miles there from lapsing but no go.

I like e-Rewards; I get free miles for minimum effort. In the last 12 months I've earned about 8,500 miles, and I'm just about to qualify for a further 2,000. I always wait until I have enough e-Rewards points to convert into the highest amount of miles (2,000) as that is the best value for points. They clear to my account pretty quickly, usually within seven days and almost always on a Monday. I guess that's when they get processed?

Regarding getting filtered out early on, that happens to me about 50% of the time, I'd say. I'm female, early thirties, but self employed, and I think that last element is the sticking point for some surveys. Regardless, I still manage to fully complete quite a few!

Wow - gave up on this years ago, never felt the miles earned justified the time a spent earning them, I could always find more interesting things to do!

Ironically, I got a lot of surveys and usually got all the way through them. In my case, the fact that I was an IT manager with influence over procurement decisions seemed to make a huge difference.
