Does anyone, ever, get the underlying miles without asking?

Just idling time and checked my FC account.
As ever, no automatic miles or TP for an underlying fare that I used to upgrade with miles to G. Likewise, the automated system says I did'nt fly. I've sent the usual email.
But, I wondered, is it ever automatic for any route - certainly not LHR-HKG rtn, unless its just me!

I have never had the underlying (i.e. paid for portion) on an M-G or S-G fare automatically post to my account. Ever!
Routes I travel frequently: LHR-JFK/EWR/SFO/JNB.

I've been told last time that the system wouldn't do it automatically and that I would need to talk to FC each time ...

We had to call to get our underlaying fares on M > G upgrades to and from NRT credited to our accounts. I was also told they never post and you always have to call or e-mail in order for them to be posted. We're also flying in and out of SFO, LAX and PVG in the next couple of months on upgrades and will report back if they post automatically, but I'm guessing they won't!

We've never had our S-G or M-G miles post, always have to phone. This is LHR/JFK/EWR.

Curiously I fine the HKG route does post TP and miles automatically about 80% of the time but I have no idea why not the other 20% - I don't do anything differently.

Yes, it has happened once for me, I think on a return leg from HKG.

Only once had this happen and FC were as surprised as me when I called from abroad to get them added to find they were already there

Not sure how quickly they should arrive, but landed yesterday on my return journey and so far nothing on my upgraded fares.

I also have been told many times whilst actually making the upgrade booking that the miles will not post and I will have to call on my return, so has become a routine that I call a few days after returning to the UK --- claimed on line once and still had to call so just call now.

Just to complete the circle. I had an email reply two days after requesting the miles - pretty good I thought. Miles etc posted manually. Customer service confirms that the system does not recogmise the underlying booking class
