The Hong Kong clubhouse - ?.?

I'm on this route a lot, but first time I've had the time to make it to the clubhouse since October.

What happened to the food? Staff as helpful as always, but the food pretty ordinary. I can forgive the absence of the burger, but its been replaced with average local fare (the lady next to me couldn't eat it) or a weak BLT. Even then, I could cope, but "portion control" is the new watchword. More sandwich in a meal deal from Tesco, and the cheese was three biscuits (each the size of a 2p piece) and 3 slivers of cheese that must have been cut with a micro scalpel.

I hope this is just an unlucky day! I rarely eat on the plane (I sleep too easily) so I may have to "do an Oliver" and ask for more.

Seriously, a pretty poor show

We were in the HKG Clubhouse two nights in a row a couple of weeks ago, and thought the food was very good. the staff were also brilliant.

First night, for starter I had the steamed pork gyoza and Sue had warm roast beetroot and goats cheese salad with balsamic dressing. For main I had the Clubhouse BLT and Sue had Prawn Laksa, with fried tofu and noodles. I thought the portion sizes were great.

Others mains that were available were Confit of Duck, served with mashed potatoes savoy cabbage and puy lentils. Grilled polenta cake wild mushrooms, poached egg and a red onion and watercress salad and finally Wonton noodle soup yellow chives, spring onion and chilli sauce.

The staff kept our glasses topped up and after we had eaten they repeatedly asked of we wanted any more, but given that we were going to eat again a couple of hours later on the plane, we declined. Even then, we only had a snack on the plane, as we were still full from the CH.

The wait staff were very attentive, and there was a manager wandering round chatting with passengers and asking for feedback about the Clubhouse experience. All in all we couldn't have asked for better service.
