Upper Deck Question...

Hello!
Apologies if this has been asked before, I'm new to the forum and couldn't find anything relatively recent so thought I'd start a new topic.
I'm flying with my boyfriend on Friday to New York, and having just gone online to book our seats I've noticed that we (as economy passengers) have the option to book seats in the upper deck.
My question is - is it worth it?! We're flying on the 747-400 from Heathrow.
Thank you!

Hi and welcome.
I think the general agreement is that the upper deck economy seats offer a better experience that the lower deck economy seats.
If you were going to pay to choose your seats in advance anyway, then I would choose upper deck. If you were going to wait until OLCI and select them for free, then it is your decision if you think spending the money to guarantee the upper deck seats is worth it.

Hi, thanks for the reply! When I typed Friday I actually meant Thursday (whoops) so we can choose our seats for free now already. Think we'll go with the upper deck then, will be a new experience at least!
Thanks

We flew economy upper deck last year, and have paid for this year. I would recommend it every time. It's quieter and more relaxing than the main cabin. We had a stress free flight both ways. Enjoy the experience and I look forward to the TR when you return.

I agree with everyone else that the upper deck is the place to be.

Thanks all! I've booked us upper deck seats there and lower deck on the way home as there weren't two left together, so I guess it will be a good comparison! We're actually doing the guestlist thing as well so we get driven there and get to use the lounge so hoping for a relaxing journey all round!!
