Glasgow Airport are spending £1/2m refurbing their Skylounge starting at the end of this week.

They say it will be back in action by the start of the summer, which in Scotland the schools finish 26 June but then again summer never really starts at all :-/

It also states that alternative provisions have been arranged but gives no details.

I believe this is the lounge used by Virgin UC passengers and I doubt they'll grant you access to the BA or Emirates lounge so I'd be quite wary about what you're actually going to get in the next few weeks.

It's also the only paid for lounge in the airport that accepts children. I hope the refurb will give the kids in the "holiday wing" runway views previously reserved for those in the "business wing".

The Emirates lounge would seem the obvious choice given the VS71 has left well before it would be needed for the afternoon DXB flight.

I don't know GLA so have no idea whether it would work in the available space but alternatively might they do what Servisair did when they were refurbishing the Aspire lounge at EDI last year and just rope off some of the departure lounge?

I doubt Emirates will let in Virgin passengers.

Reading through the airport's Twitter account they say "There will be a temporary lounge open while the work is underway. We expect the new lounge to open early this summer."

That to me sounds like what you suggest happened at Edinburgh... not great!
