Connecting through LAX - lounge access?

Hi all

I'm headed to Vegas, via LAX on VS7 and then onward with Delta after a 3 hour stop (VS codeshare). By the looks of it, VS7 arrives at T2 and the Delta connection (VS4175) departs from T5.

Anyone know if I can use the VS LAX lounge to pass the time?

Thanks

No. The new VS Clubhouse is airside in T2 departures where you'll have no access.

You'll be able to use the DL SkyClub in T5 if you're VS Au or have the appropriate DL status.

Thanks for the speedy response!

Skyclub it is then (VS Au, arriving UC, onward to Vegas in Business).

Cheers

Only thing you have to watch is that I don't think domestic biz tickets get you into the lounge. It may work out as you have an international on VS or if you hold certain Credit cards.

VS Au gets you into DL lounges as long as your DL flight is on the same day as a VS TATL flight, so the OP will be fine.

The DL SkyClub at LAX T5 is a decent enough place although they charge for hot food and premium drinks.

It's been that long since I've flown domestically in the US (or indeed travelled on a US carrier) that I've been spoiled by my VS-only experience ;-)

Thanks for the feedback!

Not sure if this changes things with regards to Clubhouse access in this particular instance, but LAX policy is that you can access ANY terminal on the day of travel--not just the terminal you depart from.

LAX is my home airport and I'd never heard this. Is there something online that describes this policy?

This was news to me until recently too, but it is true. Last week as I arrived at the LAX Clubhouse some VA travellers from T3 were trying to get access for example, different terminal, but a valid BP gets your airside in any terminal. They were turned away ... the person at the lounge entrance being very firm that no alliances, no PP, no other people but VS UC and Au's were eligible for entry.

It is useful to know if, for example, you have a long wait between flights and you want to try the dining options at TBIT. In the past I would have gone to the Daily Grill in TBIT to while away time with a decent drink and semi-decent food, but that's gone in the refurb ...

That's interesting and useful to know. There aren't airside connections between all terminals, though, are there? So if, say, you were on a DL flight out of T5 but wanted to eat in the TBIT you'd presumably have to clear security in both?

I believe T5, T6, T7, and T8 are connected with underground airside walkways, and LAX is currently building a connector building between TBIT and T4. Other than those specific inter-terminal transits, yes, you would have to exit the secure area and clear security. Your specific example would indeed require clearing security twice--once at TBIT to access the amenities there, and once at T5 to get to your departure gate. Obviously this is far from ideal, but on a very long connection it's better to have the option of going to a different (and possible nicer) terminal rather than being confined to just the one you're departing from.

It's worth checking about the airside tunnels though, some are only for the purposes of immigration and customs, e.g. between T5 and TBIT.
