VS015 - Saturday 23rd May 15

Was on the VS15 today which took a long 9hrs50mins to reach Orlando. Using the status updates whilst in the LGW CH the flight was expected to take 8hrs38mins and then at 1301 (the flight was delayed as it had arrived late from Las Vegas) the flight duration change to 9hrs39mins.....then another 11mins longer in flight.

We were told due to strong head winds the flight would be longer than normal at this time of year which was fine and plausible. On leaving the aircraft chatting with one of the CC she mentioned a technical issue had been discovered just before departure which meant we had to travel at a slower speed.....hence the longer flight duration.

Interestingly the skymap was also not working other than advising the time left to go on the flight..... :w

Overall, a really smooth flight with a great crew, though a rather lazy FSM in overall charge who wasn't at all engaging, that said we had a CSS and another FSM working in UC who were fantastic and mojito tasting at 34,000ft was something new for me but most of the cabin were involved and a good time was had by all..... :w ):

It was interesting to note the BA2039 had left a few mins after us and arrived over an hour before us so it seems the crew member might have been right.

Arrived into a steamy Orlando and though immigration in no time at all, in fact arrived at 1923 at the gate and at 1945 I was leaving the airport for the 417 South.. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Thanks for this info Jon.

Perhaps there are new rules in place for FSMs ?| Your on board experience is virtually the same as my recent trip on the 15 (with the exception of the choice of beverage ): )

Hi OP,

I believe it was a tech issue with the aircraft which meant that it had to fly slower to and from MCO last night. Mojito tasting sounds amazing and it certainly looks although you enjoyed the extra time on board!

Thanks, have since learnt we had to fly at 32,000ft for most of the flight and as you say slower for the entire flight. Interesting situation.
