Leaving an airport whilst on a layover

Hi all,

I'm thinking of booking the following itinerary with VS:

LHR-JFK-DEN-SLC-LAS-LGW

With the DEN-SLC leg potentially either being a separate DL booking or going on Amtrak. Anyhow - my question is, on the way back via LAS, can I leave the airport? I'm going to try and get on an SLC-LAS flight that arrives at 9am, leaving me 7 hours or so to kill in Vegas. If I can leave the airport whilst my bags are being transferred, then excellent, I'll go for an explore. If not, then I'll pick a flight with a shorter layover as I don't fancy 7 hours standing about.

Thanks :)

Yes you can leave the airport.

The issue you may have is with bags if they are not checked through from your flight from SLC and finding somewhere to store them

Thanks tonty - I thought this might the case. My experience is that luggage flights out of the US will get checked through any connections. I'll just have to double check at SLC that it's going all the way to Gatwick. :)
