V-Flyer

I'm flying to LAX on VS007 this sunday (17th) and was wondering if any of our VS "insiders" could confirm wether I will have a V:Port aircraft.[?]

I know that Virgin don't like to actually publicly name which plane will be on a particular route in advance, and I also know - through the resource options here - that I have a 76% chance of having V:Port, but it would be nice to know if it had V:Port or not.

For what it's worth it's currently planned on a v:port a/c although it's about as definite as trying to say what the weather will be like in a week's time!

Oh dear. Just had a call from Dean (Wolves27), he is waiting to board VS200 to Hong Kong. I think he is now rather depressed ... they are on G-VAEL Maiden Toulouse, a Airbus A340-300 with Arcadia. He was really hoping for a 600 with V:Port and the odds were good for that - 91% chance.

Interestingly in the last three months (According to the What Aircraft? page) this hasn't been used once on that route.

So just goes to show you really can't tell. Hope he gets a better plane on the return journey otherwise he really won't be a happy bunny.

They have a bulkhead seat so no footrest, but as he said - its still better then Economy!

The VS200/201 is always planned on a 346 but we had tech problems with VOGE tonight and there wasn't another 346 available so had to downgrade it to a 343 [:(]

Yeah he called from the plane to say that one of the Cabin Crew said it was a change because of a technical fault. Ah well, these things can't be avoided, but that doesn't stop it being dissappointing - hopefully he'll get something better on the way back.

Out of interest how much smaller are the 300's? Looking at the seat map I notice it has ten less UC seats. Dean checked before leaving, on the Bucket Seat thingy and with FC about the chance of upgrading and the flight was sold out. How would a last minute plane change where you have more passengers be handled? Is it a case of you check in late you don't get on and are offered the next flight out?

It's not really my area of knowledge but I guess people would be offered incentives to take the next flight and if not enough were forthcoming then it'd be the last ones who checked in that got bumped. The 343 has 255 seats compared to 306 on the 346 (or 311 on a non-UCS one) so if it's full it'll cost us a lot in hotels etc [V] Fingers crossed for a 346 on the way back

I presume you're coming back on VS24? Sorry but there's virtually zero chance of it being a 744 as there would be no crew in LAX to bring it back, unless we'd known the 343 would go tech and sent a crew out 2 days previously! Our crystal ball isn't that good unfortunately!
