Best use of miles

I currently have 170,000 miles. The plan for the next trip is LHR to SFO - internal flight to MCO - MCO to MAN. Ideally I'd like both international legs in UC (3 adults) but I'm unsure if there's a way of doing this. This is for July '16 and there's currently availability for a one way to SFO but I don't want to be paying about £15, 000 for the return from MCO!
Is there a way of doing this which could make it a possibility? I'm unsure as to how the upgrade system would work etc.
In the past I've done one way legs to LAX and travelled back indirectly but it's become too expensive.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi your dilemma to try to fly both trans Atlantic ways for 3 passengers and of course if upgrades are available would normally be 50,000 each person which for 300,000 miles you do not have
Your alternative could be to purchase M class economy tickets both ways and upgrade 25,000 per sector which you would have enough points to do but you will incur more taxes etc.
Just tried a dummy booking for July and for an o booking you are looking around just under 3000 all 3 tickets in economy o class however M tickets will be slightly more
Hope this helps

Good luck getting any reward avails out of MCO. Very tricky! Might have more luck flying from MIA, ATL or JFK.
Into SFO and out of MCO, it's currently around £1,100 for an M fare return. You then need the difference in tax which will be roughly £300. Obviously you need reward availability to make this work.
The other option is from Dublin... £1,193 with no miles!

Thank you - the Dublin option is good for us as we're in the North of England. I'm going to play around with this when our return flights are released.

The flight price is the same should you decide to fly MCO -> MAN if that's any easier for you. Glasgow on the other hand adds on £600!

I've done a couple dummy flights - this is what I'm looking at DUB - LHR, LHR - SFO. Spend some time on the west coast before flying internally down to MCO. MCO - MAN, MAN - DUB
Does that look okay?
