First time in UC and no idea where to sit - HELP

Finally cracked and decided to use my FF miles to buy 2 x UC reward seats for me and Mrs S in April next year, VS11/12 to BOS for a wedding weekend and our 20th anniversary.

I am sure every seat is great but I would like to share this with Mrs S so wanted to make sure we book them early and get the best ones for sharing the experience.

Never sat in UC before so not really sure how the seating arrangements work. I have initially booked 5A & 6A both ways but open to advice from experienced purple ticket regulars. Do not want to be near bar or WC's.

Aircraft is scheduled to be an A340-600.

Any advice gratefully received.

I don't think there any bad seats per se. It really depends whether you mind being close to the bar or sitting opposite people.
I personally like to be a good way from the bar, I like to sit there a while, but be far enough from noise if it's busy. I also prefer not to be sitting opposite a stranger so would normally opt for seats between 3-6K or 9-14A as these seats have a divider opposite them with the middle D/G seats. The middle seats are split so half face the A seats and half face the K seats.

Your choices put you sitting opposite the D row so if you don't want a stranger glaring at you then you could move further up the row or sit opposite your wife. As far as I know the seats are all same length (on the A330s the middle seats are shorter than the outer rows in UC).

+1 for Bretty's suggestion. I'd always opt to sit next to, rather than opposite, in UC (save for certain seats on a 747). If you sit opposite you're quite far apart head to head, the seats are staggered slightly and any attempt at conversation will be interrupted by aisle traffic. For face to face time sit together when eating.

Have a great time when it comes around...

+2 for Bretty's suggestion, other than the nose seats in the A zone of 747's favoured by many of us v flyers we would always go for seats next to each other rather than opposite, our next VS flight is in November on a 340/600 & we have gone for 4 & 5k

In July we had 5A and 6A on the A330.

In November we have opted for 5A and 5D, preferring the greater contact facilitated by being across the aisle from one another than one sitting in front of the other, never mind the aisle traffic which will probably mainly be people bringing me booze!

I agree with Bretty!!

Our personal favourites on the A340-600 are 10&11a but any of the seats Bretty mentioned should be good!!

Enjoy!

Another vote for Bretty's suggestion :D

I would stick on the A side of the plane as in my experience, this is usually the side on which the FSM would help with the service (if at all) and it tends to be even better. At least, that's what I've experienced on most of the 6 flights in UC I've had ...

3,4,5 K are my favourite seats on the 600.
Purple boarding passes are a thing of the past I'm afraid :).
Have a fab weekend and anniversary :).
