Virgin website woes

Am about to give up.
Have been trying since yesterday to book a stupid one way Little Red flight, and keep getting thrown back to the main menu (logged into Flying Club)...
...or my card gets declined for no good reason when I get to the payment screen (by logging out of Flying Club).
How much did they spend on this website?!!

Virgin's website booking engine is a disgrace, and has been for many years - it must have cost them millions of pounds in lost revenue. The 'upgrade' which has been going on for years is unbelievably still going on - some of it is 'new' and some (Flying Club pages e.g.) is still in the old design.
Ironically, I booked a Dubai trip a week or so back; and for the first time I was able to do it all online, without a single error message, including the payment section. I naively thought that it may be getting better, but your post puts paid to that idea, Sealink!

Aren't they supposed to be spending gazillions on a totally new system of hamster cages to operate it on plus a new front and backend?
I'm sure I read reports on it but then again it could have just been hype.
How long ago did they start the rollout of the new design? I think we could even have had a labour government at the time!

Not sure they are spending gazillions but they are reported to be switching to using Delta's backend system sometime in 2016.
