Virgin Black Upgrade Voucher - booking straight into PE?

Newbie alert!
Just a quick question regarding the PE upgrade vouchers given on the Virgin Black and White credit cards. If I wanted to book onto a flight that only had PE availability, would that be possible using the upgrade voucher (costing the points of an economy redemption) or do you have to book into economy first (presumably requiring economy availability) before upgrading? Common sense tells me it should be possible but I can't find an answer to this question anywhere! Availability to MCO next July/August looks fine for PE but not Economy.
Many thanks.

Hi
Can you tell me how soon after your card anniversary date your upgrade vouchers were added to your flying club account? I'm waiting for mine to go on now so I can book my upgraded flight and am not sure how long it takes

Thanks

Thanks eggtastico. The cash element you have to pay - is it the Economy price or the PE price?
brodders72 - I haven't even got the black card yet; just investigating opportunities to do an Orlando trip for the family in the future. Hopefully someone else will come along to answer your question (or you could ask it in a new thread).

In theory they are "available" on thr anniversary of your account opening, but it does depend exactly on when MBNA tell VS that it is available, so there can be a delay of a couple of weeks before it shows and can be used - and there is no way to "accelerate" that process...
As you need to call to book these flights, simply check at the beginning of the call if they are showing on your account to the agent. I guess you could always check on line as well, as I think your "view" is the same as theirs on the account..

You pay taxes/fees based on a PE reward fare.

What info? If the rewards have hit your FC account? You just log in to your flying club account on the VS site and there will be an entry that says PE upgrade voucher.
