Hi V-flyers!
Next month we're doing an ex-DUB UC to SFO (whoop!).
Just wondering, more for novelty really, can we get a taxi or car from T5 to T3 and use DTCI? My wife's first time in UC so thought she'd appreciate the novelty!
thanks guys

That is no longer the case, you can just turn up at DTCI now but obviously they will not have your details so will take longer to check you in compared to if you are have pre-registered your vehicle details.

Have a look at my TR from last week
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=290979No prebooking, no wait, driver just gives them your flight number and last name and the barrier opens.
For a treat, it's worth the experience
Enjoy

I'm considering exactly the same for my ex-DUB to SFO this Saturday.
I'm thinking it may be worth trying Uber to get from T5 to the DTCI at T3. I actually used Uber for the first time last following a wedding at Kew Gardens. I booked the car when I was down to the last 1% of power on my iPhone and he turned up in about 3 mins to take us back to our hotel. And as it was my first time using them, it was free! (actually, I had been hoping to get that first free trip at Heathrow, but it worked out well last night)
I'm betting Uber would also be a lot cheaper than conventional black cabs or other taxis. My free trip last night (around 11pm) would have been £5 (their minimum fare) whereas a taxi the other way (private hire, not black cab) at lunchtime had cost my wife and a friend £12.

I did DTCI in June using Uber, very easy, I just told the driver where to turn off. We had pre-registered and I called ahead once I had the car reg number (which Uber gives you).
As has been said upthread, you can now just rock up to DTCI without booking but it takes longer to check in. I like to be able to turn up, they know how many bags I have, tags and boarding cards are all ready, with a welcome smile, we exchange bags and passes with landing cards and off you go through to the security. The whole process, when you book in advance, takes 2 minutes.

Excellent, thanks all.
@Bretty - so presumably with the Uber option, you're only going to know the registration maybe only 15-20mins before arriving, so this gives them enough time to have everything ready when you arrive?

Ring up the day before you travel and book your slot with an estimated arrival time. They'll ask how many bags you'll be checking in for the tags. Tell them you'll ring on the day with the car reg number. Although with the change of rules you migh not need to give the car details in advance now - they'll tell you, but if you've booked in advance they will have boarding passes and bag tags ready so it's a quick exchange. Number to call 0344 412 4666.
Once I'd got my Uber confirmed I called with car reg. That's it. But as has been said, you can just turn up now, but the process takes a bit longer because they go through the check like they do in the departures hall.

Flew in from Dublin yesterday after an amazing day with some friends, now sitting in the Doubletree Heathrow waiting for my car to come and pick me up, booked the slot this morning when the car company confirmed my drivers details, and I even got an email yesterday inviting me to use the Upper Class wing which was nice!

We decided against using the DTCI in the end as I didn't want the hassle of working out where an Uber driver would be able to pick up. After collecting our cases from the baggage storage in T5, we went down to the Heathrow Express and took it for free across to T3 and just used the Upper Class check in desks. I don't think it made much difference in time as the priority was just to get to the Clubhouse as quickly as possible.

Had issues with my phone/Uber so ended up black cabbing between terminals. Worked fine, was quite the novelty
