V-Flyer

Having recently gone through a very sad relationship breakdown, I decided to cheer myself up with a pre-Christmas shopping and gambling trip to Vegas. I discovered there was a sale on so thought I had better book quickly. I kept looking on line for a miles plus money fare (I only had 60,000 miles) wanting to fly PE or UC. As fast as I looked the availability kept changing. So in the end I called the Flying Club help line and spoke to a lovely lady, I think her name was *****. She could not find an outbound flight so concentrated on securing the return flight first, as the UC part on the return flights is more important to me on that route as it is the overnight flight.
She found an economy fare that it was possible to upgrade to UC using my miles, and then re-looked at the outbound part. She had already checked the dates between 5 to 9 days before my return flight and found nothing. But while she was relooking at the dates a single upgrade seat apparently appeared on her screen for exactly 7 days before my return date.
The result is one very happy person with a return UC fare LGW to LAS, for about £1,000 plus 50,000 miles. So happy after such an unhappy week!

That was good fortune and obviously meant to be! I always find the FC staff to be friendly and very helpful. Undoubtedly the best customer service staff, along with Amex, I have ever encountered on the telephone.

It just goes to show that regular checking for rewards seats pays off.

We are viisting LV in December also, can't wait. I have so much planned and it will be one rollercoaster of a week
