Used last year, rocked up at 17:45, no queue, checked in and then straight to the bloc hotel. We were travelling upper class but no queue for economy either. next morning lift down from hotel straight through private security, in the clubhouse within 10 mins.

It's a great idea that we've used before DTCI came to be. Just make sure you pack toothpaste etc in 100ml tubes for your hand luggage.

In terms of who can use it, everyone:
-----

You can grab some extra sleep before an early flight thanks to our Twilight check in service.

Drop your bags off the night before, then turn up 50 minutes before boarding the next day with your boarding pass. It's that easy.

Available at Gatwick between 5pm and 9pm the day before you fly. Please note that everyone in your party will need to be present with their documentation for this option. There is no Premium Economy dedicated desk at Twilight Check in.

I always get a twinge of apprehension when my case disappears through the curtains 3 hours before the flight; will I ever see it again?
I couldn't bear to think of it sitting somewhere overnight, lost on the wrong conveyor.
I'll hang onto mine and check in in the morning.

There isn't a DTCI option at LGW though?

The only time we've ever had a lost bag was when we didn't use Twilight Check In and did it in the morning instead....

My Mrs cannot do without her luggage and if she could would put in on board herself.

I find it difficult if we have a connecting flight to reassure her that the bag will get to the final destination.

If you can do without any items and ensure you have no liquids in your hand luggage go for it . It's one strain out of the way

No there isn't (more's the pity). Twilight checkin was how we started our adventures from LGW in the past but since the advent of DTCI, we've been booking multi-city trips that start and end in LHR instead simply because the whole thing is much more convenient. With the tie-up with Purple Parking meaning we can drive to DTCI in our own car and simply hand the keys to the parking company there, I can't see us swapping back to LGW any-time soon.

Living close to Gatwick, we tend not to use Twilight. Like the Downtown Disney Check In, I am always of the opinion that bags checked in early are loaded first and this can mean an additional delay at the other end - this of course may only be my perception

There is a rmour that when VS move to the North Terminal, there may be an opportunity to reinstate the DTCI - I alway look with affection at the original facility at the South Terminal which was my first experience of UC, all too many years ago.

Now I understand.
