Assuming you don't want a taxi then take the National Express Coach. £20-25 each way. Takes around an hour but probably less late at night.

Do not bother with the tube / train or train / tube / train routing.

National express from T5 to LGW North will be your best option.

As already mentioned, National Express coach service runs all night from LHR T5 to LGW N & S but by that time of night it can be down to hourly services with a journey time around 45-50 minutes ... cost £15-20 per person if booked in advance but can be £25 or more if booked on the day / kerbside.

If there are 3 or more of you then a pre-booked taxi from, say, taxicode would cost around the same at £75 and although I've heard you can get Uber for as low as £64 the prices are variable with time (can go up by 30%) or size of vehicle (XL from £92 instead of the £64).

+1 on not messing with the expensive, convoluted train routes

A company called BA Transfer, we used them on our trip this year - about £50, driver waiting on arrival.
