This quarters points/vouchers aren't due to hit till mid November , so I am hoping for a % bonus then. Husband and I both have a max of 30,000 points already thanks to the latest 500 extra points on games (amonst other spending) .

Out of curiosity, how in the hell do you both manage to collect 30,000 tesco points in a quarter?

Lots of ways to rack them up quickly.

Clubcard and club card plus, their visa card, tesco mobile, Eon, Esso fuel, topcashback, plus they usually have pre order offers for games/dvds etc and things like Lego often have additional points on. If you don't already, perhaps subscribe to Head For Points.

As for the next transfer bonus. I can almost guarantee it will be the day after I tip my points over!

I've just started using ShopsAway (not overly impressed so far). How does this compare with Top Cashback - then transferring to Tesco Points then to VA miles?

I must confess I don't even compare points now, I always do ShopsAway for my decent shops (John Lewis, Apple etc) but I do fanny around with Top Cashback when I remember (or don't find the seller on SA).

Each retailer is different and each site will give more/less points/value, so if you have the time, do compare. If not, stick with one and rack up the points/money.

I can honestly say I've been UC to the Caribbean more than once on Shops Away points alone, I could probably narrow it down to John Lewis……...

I've read some nightmare stories on here about Shops Away taking away points from peoples FC account

Clubcard website says exchange your vouchers into FC miles between 1st November and 5th December and get 15% more miles

Thanks Penny.

I;m not sure if its my imagination or not, but I'm sure that every time they do this offer the % bonus is less!!

Thanks again, Steven

I can't find this information on the Tesco site - does anybody have a link?

That said - when I log in it does still say my points are being counted or something!

Probably due to there being no avios bonus at all for some time.

I'm going to hold off converting during this "offer"

This is definitely not a rumour anymore as it was posted on my account today ...
It's indeed 15% extra.
Obviously less than the last times but still a few hundred miles on top ... Every little helps as they say somewhere ... :-P :-P :-P

I have heard that a few years ago Virgin were offering a 50% bonus via Tesco.Ii, of course, am far too young to remember :-P

I change my Tesco points to Avios as I get 800 Avios per 250 Clubcard points which is just too good to decline, the normal exchange rate now being 600 Avious per 250 points. This is because my Clubcard acount is ancient (which rather negates my firsy statement I realise :D ) and I keep the original exchage rate from 1891 or whenever it wa.

Please accept my humblest apologies for speaking them who shall not be named but is it as easy to get reward flights from BA as it is Virgin ?? I get head for points emails but after seeing part 1001 of how to redeem avios I kinda gave up the will to carry on.

I have never experienced any difficulties, but others do I suspect. I am quite flexible with destinations and dates, which makes it easier. I collect Avios more than I do FC miles and have used them for many years (right back to when they were BA Miles and I collected them in Sainsbury's). We have flown to Thailand, Hong Kong, SFO, LA, NYC, Canada and all across Europe with Avios. There is of course far more choice with BA but availability on some routes (eg LAX, EZE, SYD) can be difficult to impossible. Other routes such as NRT/ HND, USA and European cities can have lots of availability.

Using points for First and CW rewards, especially with an Amex 241 voucher, is often great value. Our LHR-LAS First return tickets cost £4000 each had we paid cash. We paid £550 taxes each (and 150k Avios total for both with a 241 voucher). Thats a bargain in my book. Avios are also great for European short haul flights in Economy, with taxes at just £35 each. I know you can fly as cheap with Ryanair, but i'd rather not :)

Avios are not such good value when used on longhaul Economy rewards though, the fees and taxes reduce the overall value of the redemtion.

This website is good for looking at current availability on BA with Avios.

https://baredemptionfinder.com/

Avios can also be used on partner airlines, but I have never done so yet.

Hope that helps.

I too have grandfather rights with BA.

Unfortunately, the devaluation and high fees of avios makes virgin much better value, even at the lower exchange rate.

Add in to the mix that virgin availability is currently miles, miles (pun intended) better than BA for transatlantic flights, makes Virgin currently a better prospect.
