Reward seat, get told something different every time I call!

In the past I have phoned up and asked to hold reward seats for a few hours and it hasn't been a problem.

This morning I had the seats I wanted and went to the next step to book them online and for some bizarre reason couldn't log it, the page just kept refreshing. So I called up, tried to explain, I was asked for a booking ref which I obviously wouldn't have and amongst other things was told they don't hold seats. I tried explaining again, same thing was said.

The seats have now gone :(

Annoyed is an understatement. Is this true now, because last week it wasn't a problem at all and the seats were held till midnight for us?

On all three of our Virgin flights in the last year I've been able to hold seats, up to three days in one case. Not sure if something has changed but would be surprised/disappointed if it has.

I held some PE/UC seats a couple of months ago for 3 days while a Miles Booster transaction came through.

In Feb I had held a seat on ana for 24 hours phoned back to book and agent told me it had gone and no more where available. Hung up and redial spoke to another rep and was told the flight was there so booked it. There's not much continuity between agents

I was pretty annoyed as I could see the seats in front of me on the screen but but the time she'd finished asking silly irrelevant questions and telling me multiple times they can't hold seats....they were gone.

I've got reward economy seats booked but am flexible within a couple of weeks to hopefully get reward PE or Upper. I'll be 24 weeks pregnant when we fly so was really hoping for some extra comfort :(

It's frustrating that with Virgin or any number of companies the standard of service and knowledge of the staff is so variable. Thankfully I didn't have the same problem as you and was able to put a couple of reward seats on hold yesterday.

I called Flying Club today. As ever they were very helpful. The staff member offered to hold my seats, without me asking them too, for 2 1/2 days. So I think something went very wrong with your call I am sorry to hear.

I thought as much. No point complaining though, they can't magic the seats back for me :(

Fingers crossed something comes up, 2 weeks till we fly!
