Dreamliner to Miami

Hi all,
Booked in VS117 to Miami in 7th Jan and in VS6 on 24th Jan next year, supposed to fly on 333 and 744 respectively.
Checked my booking tonight to realise that my seats on the VS6 had been changed ... Unhappy with that as I had the 12A/K combo, I double checked and the flight has now moved to a 789!
Actually really happy with that even if I will now never have the chance to experience the 747 nose ...
So it seems that Virgin has moved forward the aircraft change by a month on the MIA route... Do we know when the switch is happening? Does it also affect the last Heathrow service date for the 744?

Last LHR 744 service is now January 16th hence why Miami on 787 a month earlier than planned

Thanks ever so much virginboy747.

Makes perfect sense, looking forward to fly on the 789 ... Will add nicely to my aircraft type list

Grrrr.....just wish VS would dump their scruffy LHR 744's before Jan 1st as I'm still on a 744 coming back from MIA on Jan 1st, the LHR 744's will be really on their last legs by then.

I think MIA is the last route for the VS LHR 744's too, as by Dec I believe there will only be 1 left.

Never thought I hear myself say this, but lets hope mine goes tech on Jan 1st!!

The only good thing I can say about that flight is that I'm in row 28 in Premium Economy (the exit row).

(as you can probably tell, I'm in the minority as I'm not a fan of the LHR 744's)

Indeed I can tell mitchja :-P

Well I will never had the chance to fly on them but I flew a few times on the LGW ones ...
This certainly is the end of an era but those Dreamliners look amazing inside and outside ...

Is the MIA staying on a 787 full time? Our flight in May is showing as an A330-300 currently.

My VS5 & VS6 flights in April are on A340-600 and A330-300 respectively.

But as long as they have gin on board, I can live with that :)

It seems that so far the Dreamliner is planned for only a few weeks ... This might and most likely will change ;)

He doesn't need to do that yet - just has to go to LGW or MAN if he wants to fly on one!

on 11/12/2015 I booked my trip for September / October 2016 and chose seats on a 333 seat plan.

Today 13 days later I noticed flight time changes, so checked my booking and saw plane changed to a 789, I am happy with this as I have been wanting to fly on a 789

Luckily I was able to choose our preferred seats before the plane starts to get full

Naughty of VS to change plane and not send out email notification so that people can re-select seats though.

MIA is also showing as a 789 in May/June 2016

Thanks for the heads up, just checked our May booking to MIA and it's now changed to a 787 and also had a time change so managed to sort our seats out again.

Looks like they swapped the 789 off ORD and onto MIA for the summer. Gutted as flying back from ORD in June!

Thanks for heads-up - our MIA flights out in May and back in June have also gone to a B787 with a minor time change. No notification from them and we were put almost at the back of the PE cabin so I have moved us nearer the front again, but about half the cabin was pre-selected so couldn't get as far up as I wanted (and had selected on the A330!)
