Wow this place is massive !!!!

Doing my first ex-EU trip. Just flown Brussels to Doha and will go on to Cape Town in an hour or so. To be honest I didn't really save too much in the end starting in Brussels vs Qatar from MAN/LHR, once the costs of Eurostar and a hotel were factored in, but lessons learned for next time. Clearly I did save vs BA.

Now I thought UC was pretty good, but the Qatar 787 aircraft business class is probably better. Plenty of room (no A330 sardines here), food was excellent, c17" screen for TV. On arrival a bus just for Bus passengers to the terminal.

On the subject of food - my wife is lactose intolerant and on this flight she got a really interesting 3 course meal. On Virgin, we have had a very mixed experience with that, ranging from an effort made, to not being loaded, and would you like some fruit?

Will see how the flight to CPT pans out - but I think some sleep is on the cards.

Spending nearly 2 weeks in and around Cape Town, and then will have to suffer the Qatar Business class experience all the way back.

We normally take beach holidays in the Caribbean, but seriously thinking of places we can get to on Qatar.

TTFN.

Sounds like you're having a great time flying with Qatar. We considered them for our trip to SA but couldn't resist a couple of reward flights in UC when they came available.

Would be great to hear your experience of Cape Town as we will be spending a week there. What plans do you have?

Have a great trip,

N

We are currently in Cape Town, and have 4 nights here. Going to see the sights via the hop-on/hop-off bus service for 2 days and going to Robben Island on day 3. Then north to Bushman's Kloof, then Stellenbosch, Hermanus, and finally some time staying on the Cape.

So staying around Cape Town this time. We came a few years ago and did the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth and back to Cape Town, but this time wanted a few less miles.

The second Qatar flight was as good as the first. Straight of the plane, no Q at immigration, bags off 5 minutes later, through customs, driver waiting, in hotel room 60 minutes from landing.
