Evening from the New York Clubhouse.

Good evening from the Virgin Clubhouse at New York Kennedy. Currently sitting waiting for the VS46 back to Heathrow which is running late inbound, they very kindly offered to put me on the VS4 which has just pushed back from the gate. Don’t know why I was so special to be offered it didn’t hear anyone else being called out so wasn’t like they worked down a list to me - must be my charm because I’m only on an award flight afterall.

Didn’t take up the offer as I wasn’t sure where I would end up, next to a toilet, a screaming baby or the bar far too risky.

First time visit to this lounge and the staff have been great, just had a really good chicken madras, with steamed rice, naan bread, poppadum, mango chutney and cucumber raita. I have to admit to letting the side down now, no bubbly or cocktails but a beer to wash it down.

Check in was empty and security straight to the front of the queue, hope the flight lives up to what has been a good evening so far.

I know not everyone likes or drinks champagne, I don't understand it but I know such people exist ;-)
Anyway, hope you have a pleasant time and an enjoyable flight, I'll be on VS46 myself in a few weeks. Bon voyage.

Bretty, please don't get me wrong, I love a glass of champagne as much as the next person, but with a curry. Not so sure. Maybe I need to educate myself some more.

Had a great flight thanks, a very interesting view of JFK as we taxied for just over an hour before getting to the front of one of many queues.

First experience of the Canarsie climb out of JFK and I was sitting in 12A (A340-600) so got a great view of the bay and the airport again as we completed the 180 degree turn.

Crew were awesome, will knock up a trip report in the next day or so.
