Points from different accounts question!

Hi All,
First post here - got some great info from you all from reading the forums already but want to clarify a reward bookings question. Through credit card bonuses etc, I expect to have a combined 160,000 points ready for a UC return to NYC from LHR. There'd be 120,000 in my account and 40,000 in my girlfriends. I know as an authorised person I can use the points in my girlfriends account to book a segment but does this segment have to be for both people or would I be ok to 2people out and 1person back with my points and 1person back with her points?

I suppose if not, could I make 3 separate bookings as:
2 people out with my points
My return in a separate booking with my points
Girlfriend return with her points.

Hopefully it all makes sense!
Cheers,
Toby

Welcome.

yes, you can do it like you want, so book 2 x out and 1x return from your account and 1 x return from your girlfriends account, that is not a problem at all.

Another question on top of this.. When I search for the return trip, there's plenty of availabilty for two on the return flights (JFK->LHR in UC). WHen I do a one way search, all the availability disappears for all flights bar one. If I reduce the number of pax down to 1, another flight comes up but it doesn't match the availabilty when booked as part of a return.
Also, the taxes and "carrier imposed surcharges" for the JFK-LHR leg as part of a return booking for 2 add up to £350 ish. One done as a one way, the costs come to £550 after converting from usd to gbp!
Both these things seem a bit odd? Is it just Virgin trying to make more money/encourage return bookings?
