EU261 Compensation Vouchers - Beware!

After a 5.5 hour delay back from NYC a few weeks ago I made an EU261 compensation claim online and took the option of £600 worth of vouchers in place of 600 Euro's in cash. Two weeks later and the vouchers arrived.

On Tuesday this week I used the vouchers towards flights this weekend to NYC again (Flying Club took the voucher numbers when I made the booking).

My E-Ticket still hadn't arrived this morning so I called Flying Club to chase it, after being put on hold the agent came back and asked if I'd sent the vouchers in (there had been no mention of that), he then told me it was too late for me to do that now (at first I thought I had thrown them away to which he said "that will be a problem" but luckily I found them). I then offered to e-mail, fax or special delivery them (so they would arrive tomorrow morning) but was told there wouldn't be time to process them.

I now won't be able to check in online (which I always do) and have to go to the ticket desk to get the flight ticketed on the morning of the flight (I was planning on avoiding the whole area and going straight to the lounge as I'm flying hand luggage only).

I'm not happy!! It is very lucky I called to check though......

Sorry to hear this has messed you up, but thanks for pointing this out - I've got £1800 worth burning a hole in my pocket.
