changing date on reward ticket

Hi, first post on here but been a long time reader and have learned a lot by reading. I have a question for you flying club experts, I managed to bag 2 UC flights to MCO by going down the buy an upgradable economy ticket and using miles to upgrade to UC, only PE was available for the return so that was booked at the same time. A few days later whilst checking to see if any UC had opened up for the return I noticed availability for the day after we had booked the return, so I phoned the FC and managed to change to the next day and upgrade from PE to UC with miles. My question is how much should I have charged to do this, I was charged £100 each for the date change plus the difference in taxes. Since then I have read in the FC T&Cs a charge of £30 pound would be payable. So who is right?. Sorry its a long post for a first time but hoping for some light on this
Thanks Michael

I haven't got the T&Cs open to check so am going from memory, but IIRC the £30 fee is to change a full miles redemption ticket, whereas for you with an upgradeable Economy ticket (most likely M fare) the rules for that underlying fare prevail when wanting to make a date change - and that's a £100.

Hi DVCMichael, welcome to the site.
If it were just a straight reward ticket then there would be the minimal admin charge to change the dates, however in your circumstances you purchased an upgradeable EC ticket and then upgraded with miles. The conditions attached to the initial Economy ticket before the upgrade (guessing an M fare?) would apply - £100 change fee (plus diff in YQ, GB and XT) per ticket is correct.
Hope that was of some help

Thanks for the replies . Still happy to have bagged the two UC returns on a popular route. Once again thanks

Been there, done that. I paid £100
I also learned that Sunday flight home has more chance of Upper rewards and so the last two years we have added a day from the outset and got Upper both ways.

Yes we avoid the weekend flights as it usually a lot quieter midweek. Next year it's Thursday out and Friday back.
