Hi,

New to the forum and one tier point from Flying Club Silver. I have a question related to PE ticket type.

I have choice of K class PE ticket on LGW-MCO if tickets as a VS code flight via Virgin or a W class PE ticket if the same flight (operated by Virgin) is tickets as a Delta flight.

Looking to ensure best accrual of tier points/miles and upgrade possibilty on one leg too.

What would you to?

Thanks!

Is the price the same? The Delta W fare will probably book you into VS K fare anyway.

yep, the fare price is the same, just the quoted fare type/class is different which I thought was a bit odd....or a possibility of leveraging an upgrade with miles which I *think* an S fare class wouldn't allow

^this

as well as for codeshare VS PE, the DL W fare code is also used for their comfort+ seat, certainly would not expect it to translate W on VS which is the PE full-fare flexible/refundable ticket

a VS W gets you 4 TP, lower fare codes are 3 TP, but W is typically a lot more expensive than K

if you want maximum TP and don't mind a connecting flight, check pricing for going via ATL (VS/DL), that would net you an extra TP on each DL leg and might even be cheaper than the direct flight

you mention upgrades, are you booking direct or via travel agent? i think a TA ticket has to be W if you want to do a points upgrade PE->UC, whilst for direct booking both W and S are upgradeable but not K

oh, and if you really want points, consider miles booster, sometimes it's good value, you can do it after you've flown
