Phone calls from Flying Club

Suddenly started to get calls on my mobile from Flying Club?
Never been approached before but first was a couple of weeks ago , whilst sitting in the BA Lounge on my return from SFO (how did they know?). It was not very convenient so they promised to ring back.
They have done twice this week but again it's not been convenient to talk as I have been up to my knees in mud and floodwaters here in Cumbria!
When I asked the purpose of the call they just said it a courtesy one to members and they will ring again when I have time to speak. Being a bit of a sceptic I wonder if they are trying to flog a credit card or have I been chosen for a free trip around the world?

Probably just a marketing one, have you got any VS flights coming up? They sometimes call before flights to flog upgrades and extras.

If you don't want to receive the marketing nonsense, just change the comms preferences in your FC account. I did so years ago and not been bothered by marketing calls since.. 50/50 on whether they call before a flight though :cool:

Hope the flooding hasn't caused too much damage for you to deal with and if it has that all is fixed up asap.

The calls could also be coming from MBNA as it annoys me intensely when MBNA call and claim to be either Virgin Atlantic or Flying Club.

I had one of these a few months ago, it took a good few minutes for me to work it it was actually MBNA calling me rather than VS or Flying Club.

Also hope everything it OK with the flood damage and that you get back to some kind of normality soon :)

My deepest of deep sympathies! I know exactly what it is like having been flooded twice in one night in June and then for a third time exactly two months to the day back in 2012. It's the powerlessness you feel as the water invades your territory and you are unable to stop it! I was fortunate that when the flood waters besieged my home, they had room to move around outside and thus not rise to the levels of my near neighbours.

I do hope you come out of it relatively unscathed and that you can get the place to dry out quickly - especially at this time of year (my floods were June and August). There was good news and bad news after my flood. The bad news was that the remedial work on repairing the damage discovered that my 200+ year house was unstable and that this was considered wear and tear by the insurers; the good news is that I now have a safe, dry, insulated house with some flood defences (and in the town a super-dooper new system is all but finished). I came out unscathed after last weekend's floods and hope you have a similar outcome.

May I add my sympathies too. What a terrible time for you and at such an emotive time of year. Do hope the further floods haven't affected you and that things will get sorted very quickly.

I hope you have not been hit too bad with the flooding and that you have not had a second hit last night.

Thank you all for your concern regarding the floods. Fortunately this time my property has been spared but like others I have been doing my best to support those less fortunate.
Like HL I have first hand experience of the misery and disruption to normality these events bring. Some of my friends have now been hit three times and their ability to "bounce back" is being sorely tried. Physically and mentally they are drained and it is up to the rest of us to give them continuing support over the months ahead.
The devastation and disruption to property and infrastructure is beyond imagination, the news channels only give a broad outline.

Of interest to V-flyers the local breweries and pubs has a movement "Drink Cumbria Dry" whereby a donation to the Flood Fund is given for every pint sold. Unfortunately it does not extend to the Champagne, which I know is the preferred tipple of most of you folks!
