Got a lovely pair of free B&W headphones from Virgin Atlantic through the post yesterday - really great of them!
Did a quick search and nobody seems to have mentioned this, so maybe it's for US based AU's, (maybe with 60+ points/year?)
Anyways - if anyone from VS reads this: THANK YOU! very nice gift, that I have already enjoyed. You have earned my loyalty!

Yes, I was very (pleasantly) surprised too. It's a nice bit of kit!
Last year it was a Shinola iPad case (presumably because of the Detroit connection), and I think that was US only.

Hmm
They definitely haven't made it to me in the UK...

Typical! We Brits are never looked after or rewarded for loyalty.
If I had gold, I would be enquiring why no headphones & questioning how much they value my loyalty.

As far as I can tell, newly-minted AUs in the US are getting the headphones outright, while all others are getting gift certificates for $150 off ($299 retail price)...

No, I've been AU for a while. I think it may be for AUs over 80 (or 60?) TPs at last renewal.

Market forces I'm afraid. If it's to increase its market share and profitability, VS needs to grow its customer base in the US. American FFs tend to be fiercely loyal to their legacy carriers so a small British airline has to fight for every US customer it can get. As galling as it may seem, a US-based Au is far more valuable to VS than the average UK-based one.
